Understanding Yourself As You Grow
The teenage years can bring new questions about who you are, your interests, where you belong, and how you want to relate to the people around you. As teenagers’ experiences and relationships change, they may find themselves making sense of feelings that are difficult to put into words.
At The Compassion Practice, we offer space to explore what life feels like for teens. Together, we’ll become curious about their experiences, the relationships that matter to them, and what helps them feel understood and able to be themselves.
Understanding What Shaped You
Teenagers’ experiences with family, friends, and the world around them can influence how they see themselves, what they expect from others, and how comfortable they feel expressing their needs. Some of these influences may be familiar. Others may show up through feelings or reactions they haven’t fully understood yet.
Therapy offers space to explore how these experiences have become part of their story and what they mean to them now. We’ll consider the messages they’ve received about themselves alongside their own developing feelings, hopes, and sense of who they are.
We can explore what independence means to them, what they need from others, and how to develop their own voice within the relationships that matter to them.
What We Work On Together
Our work is collaborative, relational, and paced with care. The relationship we build with our teen clients is part of this work. They can ask questions and share a different perspective. These conversations can offer opportunities for them to feel heard and respected while becoming more comfortable sharing who they are. Together, we may explore –
For Parents & Caregivers
If you’re a parent, you may want to support your teenager while feeling unsure about what they need. We can discuss your concerns, your teenager’s perspective, and whether family involvement may be helpful. You’re also welcome to ask how privacy and communication will be handled throughout therapy. If you’re a parent looking for support, please feel free to reach out.
