A Different Relationship with Yourself

Many people come to therapy wanting relief from feelings that are difficult to understand or patterns that seem to repeat despite your efforts to change them. Perhaps you feel unsure of your own worth, find closeness difficult, or notice a distance between how you appear to others and how you feel inside.

At The Compassion Practice, we offer space to slow down and gently explore your experience. Together, we’ll become curious about what happens beneath the surface: the feelings that are difficult to name, the expectations you carry, and the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself.

Understanding What Shaped You

  • Earlier experiences can remain present

Your experiences help shape the way you see yourself, what you expect from others, and how you respond to your own feelings and needs. Some of these influences may be easy to recognize. Others may appear through familiar reactions or patterns that you haven’t yet fully understood.

  • Exploring your story

These ways of responding deserve to be explored within the context of your story. Therapy offers space to understand how they developed, what they mean to you, and how they fit the life and relationships you have today.

  • Relate to yourself & others differently

Together, we can make room for feelings, wishes, and needs that have been difficult to understand or express. As these become clearer, there may be more freedom to respond to yourself with care and connect with others in ways that feel more secure and authentic.

What We Work On Together

We will bring warmth, curiosity, and honesty as you explore what matters to you. There is room to tell us when something feels difficult, when we have misunderstood you, or when you need a different pace. Those conversations can become meaningful opportunities to experience being heard and to remain connected while being yourself. Together, we may –

  • Notice feelings and needs that are easy to overlook
  • Explore how earlier relationships influence what you expect from yourself and others
  • Understand familiar responses such as overthinking, pleasing others, withdrawing, or staying in control
  • Expressing yourself more openly and making choices that reflect your needs and values
